Building a junk mail tree
So, we at GreenDimes just came back from the Good Earth Show in Eugene, Oregon. It was great opportunity to meet folks and chat about junk mail and our tree planting. In our booth, we built a "junk mail tree" by drilling a hole through piles of junk mail and stacking it on an umbrella stand. Staggeringly, the tree "trunk" weighed in at 100 pounds and over six feet tall, and was topped off with an umbrella canopy. 100 pounds is the amount that the average household receives in junk mail each year. But, according to show attendees, that amount is an understatement. Almost every person said, "I think we get that much in 6 months!" Hopefully we will be helping out a bunch of those people soon, so thanks very much if you stopped by our booth.
For those of you who were not in Oregon this weekend, some of the cool things at the show included clothing made from 70% bamboo - who'd of thought that would be soft and very nice looking? You can see them at www.bamboooriginals.com
Another neat thing was the ergonomic wheelbarrow handles called "Just Dump It" that allow you to tip the wheelbarrow more easily. And of course, the Dagoba chocolate people were there (and their delicious samples sustained me through the show).
That's all for now. If you know of other cool home shows or events that GreenDimes should attend, do let us know! Thanks. Jill
