Sundance Eco-mmunity

Ecommunity_logo_3 So I got a chance to surf around our partner's Eco-mmunity site, and they've definitely got some nifty features.

The Map:

One of my favorites.  If you as a business or individual do anything green, you can create your virtual push-pin on the map.  It can tell you what green businesses, events, concerns about, and accomplishments done in your community.

The Discussion:

What community site wouldn't have a good discussion board. This one's especially nice because of how break it down - Green Consultations, Hot Debates, and Green Inspiration.   I'd say the level of expertise on this forum is pretty high

The Quiz

Eh, gotta work on that one.  I like it in concept, but there too many items and some are more opinions than quiz items.

The Greenzine

Okay, you want the latest in the world of green.  Come here.  In fact, we wrote about the same subject recently (Nanosolar.)   ...Yeah, their article kinda blew mine away.

The E-card

Gotta say, this is one of the niftiest features.  You can create your own green card that you can email off to your friends and family.  You can drag from a gallery of photo and messages and create your own e-montage.  Usually I am the traditional Holiday card type, but I'm starting to rethink that position.

Takes a minute to join...so join!

Sundance Channel and GreenDimes

Sundance_logo We have some great news at GreenDimes. Starting today, we have started a new and exciting partnership with Sundance Channel’s Eco-mmunity, the part of Sundance Channel’s website focused on all things green.

I am personally a huge fan of Sundance Channel and its array of unique and independent programming. Until our partnership, though, I wasn’t aware of all the cool stuff on Sundance Channel’s web site. You will see lots about GreenDimes on Eco-mmunity, but you will also find an entire community of green-minded individuals sharing through “The Green Blog;” discussion forums; spotlights on independent-minded filmmakers, musicians, and artists; green e-cards; and an awesome interactive map where you can make contact with eco-minded Eco-mmunity members. You should really join now!

You can also click through the navigation bar at the top of any www.greendimes.com site page to get to Eco-mmunity instantly. I joined this morning and I have to admit that Eco-mmunity has diverted me at least three times from my pile of “to do” items sitting right in front of me.

Why such a partnership, you ask? First, we believe that our members will like meeting each other and should know about each other. Both groups share similar interests (for example, being green and doing good things). Second, the fine people at Sundance Channel and all of us at GreenDimes want to eliminate the waste produced as the result of junk mail once and for all. When you are able to reduce your junk mail and catalogs to almost nothing, you will have more time to watch Robert Redford’s “The Green” and read “I Give a Dime,” after all.

Stay tuned for more great things from this partnership.

Later,

Dan – GreenDimes General Manager

GreenDimes New Website!

Gdimes_1_3 Hey everyone.  This is Dan, GreenDimes General Manager, letting you know that as of today, www.greendimes.com has a whole new look and feel. We’ve made it easier to order our service, and if you are a member, your account page will look and act the same as it has before. We also think it looks happier, like our members feel when they open their mailboxes and find it clean of junk mail. I do apologize if you stumble across kinks or any other issue at the site. Please let us know as we will fix problems as soon as we can.

With the holidays coming up, I hope you will buy GreenDimes for everyone you know. Our service makes a delightful stocking stuffer (as opposed to mailbox stuffer). We are open on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and 24 hours a day all the other days of the year to facilitate last minute gifting. Try it out!

We also have a handy dandy certificate that you can download from our site, print out on fine parchment paper (or any other kind), fill out for your gift recipient, roll up, tie with a nice ribbon, and place in a convenient gift giving location.

Anyway, check out the new design. We love it and hope you do too!

No more corporate mouse pads! Sign me up.

Here at GreenDimes, we're gearing up for the holidays. We don't want to be pushy or in-your-face about it- we all get enough of that at the mall (and yes, the decorations are going up around here, too... the department stores can't even wait until Thanksgiving anymore!)- but a little well-placed self-promotion never hurt anyone, right?

Right. SO, something I want to get on your radar is that GreenDimes has a great corporate gifting program. You know when your boss's boss's boss hands you that company t-shirt/ hat/ mouse pad and you don't know what to do with it so it sits in your closet/drawer/pantry for years? This never has to happen to you again.

Giving GreenDimes at work shows your co-workers how cool and forward-thinking you are, how much you care about our planet and how much you care about saving them from coming home everyday to an overflowing mailbox. And it truly is a gift that keeps on giving, er stopping, all year long...

This year give your co-workers the gift of less junk and more trees. They, and your mailbox, and the environment, and Kendra and Sanjiv at GreenDimes, and... ok, you get the point. We'll all thank you.

E-mail me right away and let's get started! kendra@greendimes.com

Happy gifting,

Kendra

Start Your Own Green Business

Hey guys.  I just want to remind you about our ridiculously easy referral program.  I’ve been here two weeks and I already have $20 bucks in my account.  Okay, I’m not going to collect because I work here, but you can!  It’s simple.   Once you order the GreenDimes service, you should shoot out a bunch of emails via our handy referral box to your friends and family (no hassling, just one email.)   Then, see who signs up.  It certainly helps them (less junk mail) and it helps you ($5 for each signup) too. Ready for the real kicker? It helps our green planet (have you seen our impact counter lately?!)  It’s also unlimited, like starting your own little green business.

Your green business partner,

Sanjiv

California's in the red...

Well at least according to our nifty colored-coded “Do Not Mail” petition map of the United States. California has jumped ahead over the other states with nearly 3000 signatures, and North Dakota wins in the signatures per capita race (sorry, that’s my econ degree talking.) It’s a good start, but every state is in this together, so sign up. Want another reason?

Et Tu US Postal Service?

Moving here from LA, I just filled out one those Change Of Address forms. And I thought, wow, that was the easiest government form I’ve ever had to fill. And now I know why. I just learned that the US Postal Service is going to make some money off of it. No, they don’t sell your name directly to junkmailers, but they do collect money from every piece of junk mail forwarded (50 cents a pop back in 2000) labeled “Address Correction Requested.” On top of that, they make money licensing change of address data which keeps the junkmailer’s lists updated. Now, I’m not recommending that you stop filling out Change Of Address forms, or harassing our hard-working postal carriers. I simply would like to invite you to sign our free petition form.

Our Holiday Season is Now!

Okay, so I won’t regularly do a hard push for Greendimes goodies (greenies?) on our blog, but I saw a comment on the Daily Kos blog that caught my attention (…by the way, thanks for the mention, Kos). This person posted that she wants to do something about junk mail before she gets inundated with holiday catalogs. Brilliant. How easily I had forgotten all about catalogs exploding out of my mailbox every time I opened it! Seems to me, all those catalogs get in the way of my junk mail.

This is why it’s time to sign up for Greendimes, to give time for our souped-up service to take on our junk mail friends before catalog crush.   Here’s what I recommend…

Buy a GreenDimes Pack for $36

The pack comes with anti-junk mail service along with a cool tee, an ultra swanky reusable bag (they can collapse into a little pouch, impress your friends) and a couple of ultra ultra swanky lightbulbs? Okay, not so swanky, but they’re compact fluorescents, great global warming reducers. So some of you might say:

Hey wait a minute, you’re talking about stopping holiday catalogs and junkmail, now your pushing packs, albeit ecopack?

Okay, cool, so for you, here’s what I recommend…

Buy our Flagship: The Greendimes Junk Mail Reduction Kit for $15 one time

On top of reducing the junk mail, we’ll plant 10 trees (you know the drill.) Some of you may say:

Well this year, the budget’s really really tight

No problem…

Buy our GreenDimes Reusable Bag for $5.

Remember the swank? You can buy it individually. Some of you may say:

I don’t get junk mail.

Wow, you’re one of the lucky…one. I recommend…

Buy the GreenDimes Egift for $5 - $36.

For a long-lost love. But still, some of you may say:

I can’t buy anything this year.

Yep, we even have something for you.

The GreenDimes Do Not Mail Me Petition for FREE!

We’re creating a National Do Not Mail Registry. The Do Not Call list rallied 67+ million people and changed the world.

So see, there’s something for everyone - except maybe for the DMA (Direct Marketing Association).
